To omit all the words in lines 3 to 7 on page 9. To omit the word " Native " from line 2, page 9, and insert the word " Maori " in lieu thereof. Final Report I have the honour to report that the Maori Affairs Committee, consisting of fifteen members, held eighteen meetings during the session, with an average attendance at each meeting of nine members. Including four petitions brought forward from last session, the Committee has carefully considered fifty petitions ; forty-nine petitions were reported on to the House and one is held over. Seven parliamentary papers and two Bills —the Waerenga-a-hika Trust Bill and the Maori Purposes Bill—were duly considered by the Committee and reported on. 26th November, 1947. Special Report I have the honour to report that at its final meeting the Maori Affairs Committee unanimously passed the following resolution : " That this Committee records its high sense of the distinguished service rendered to the Maori race by the late Honourable James O'Brien and of its appreciation of the work done by the late honourable gentleman as Chairman of the Committee ; and, further, the Committee expresses its sincere and profound sympathy with his widow in her great loss." The Committee also resolved that this resolution be recorded in the minutes and reported to the House. J. B. F. Cotterill, Chairman. 27th November, 1947.
