Parore and Another, of Dargaville Praying for the repeal of section 281 of the Native Land Act, 1931. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. The Committee is further of opinion that consideration should be given to the amending of section 281 of the Native Land Act, 1931, with a view to giving the Maori people greater independence and responsibilityThe Committee has no recommendation to make regarding the main prayer of the petition. 6th November, 1947.
