No. 15.—Petition of Raureti te Huia and 75 Others, of Te Awamutu Praying for inquiry into Mangapiko Parish, Puniu Parish, Town of Kihikihi, and other I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for inquiry regarding the blocks mentioned in the petition that were granted to the Maoris by the Compensation Court, but has no recommendation to make regarding the balance of the petition. 23rd October, 1947. * [Translation] Pitihana Nama 15 a Raureti te Huia ratou ko etahi atu e 75, o Te Awamutu E inoi ana kia uiuia a Mangapiko Pariha, a Puniu Pariha, te Taone o Kihikihi, a era atu tekiona. No. 98.—Petition of Hori Haere, of Tolaga Bay Praying for relief in re Paremata and Mangaheia Blocks. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government, for favourable consideration, and further that — • ••• (1) Legislative, power be given to the East Coast Commissioner to create an equalizing reserve fund, under any appropriate designation, for the purpose of providing a means of adjusting or apportioning the rights and liabilities between the various blocks comprising the East Coast Native Trust Lands and that adequate safeguards be provided to ensure that an equitable adjustment is made between the various blocks : (2) That such an adjustment or apportionment be effected as soon as possible to " :: enable those blocks which will attain a sound financial position as a result of the adjustment to be released from the Trust and return to the beneficial owners. 30th October, 1947.
