Special Report I have the honour to report that at its final meeting the Maori Affairs Committee unanimously passed the following resolution : " That this Committee desires to express its regret that Mr. Lowry, Chairman for some years, has been compelled through illness to retire from the Committee and its hope that he will speedily recover. " The Committee further desires to record its high appreciation of the fair, courteous, and impartial manner in which its Chairman, Mr. Cotterill, has conducted the business of the Committee during the session." Final Report I .have the honour to report that the Maori Affairs Committee, consisting of eighteen members, held sixteen meetings during the session, with an average attendance at each meeting of eight members. Including nineteen petitions brought forward from last session, the Committee carefully considered forty-three petitions ; thirty-nine were reported on to the House and four are held over. One parliamentary paper, the Waikato-Maniapoto Maori Claims Settlement Bill, the Ngaitahu Trust Board Bill, and the Native Purposes Bill were duly considered by the Committee and reported on. J. B.
