- ' • Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives Thursday, the 27th Day of June, 1946 Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to whom shall stand referred, after the first reading, all Bills affecting or in any way relating to the lands of the Crown, or education or other public reserves ; the Committee to have power to recommend such amendments therein as it thinks proper, and to report generally, when necessary, upon the principles and provisions of the Bill: the Committee to consist of Mr. Corbett, Mr. Cullen, Mr. Gerard, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Kidd, Mr. Langstone, Mr. Meachen, Mr. Walls, Mr. Williams, and the Mover."—(Hon. REPORTS
Christchurch Domains Board and Christchurch City Empowering Bill I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has considered the Christchurch Domains Board and Christchurch City Empowering Bill, and recommends that, so far as it affects the rights and prerogatives of the Crown, the Bill be allowed to proceed without further amendment. 6th August, 1946.
Christchurch City Empowering Bill (No. 2) I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has considered the Christchurch City Empowering Bill (No. 2), and recommends, so far as the Bill affects a public reserve, that it be allowed to proceed without further amendment. 29th August, 1946.
Waimakariri Harbour Bill I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has considered the Waimakariri Harbour Bill, and recommends, so far as the Bill affects the rights and prerogatives of the Crown or v public Reserves, that it be allowed to proceed without further amendment. 11th September, 1946.
Wairoa Harbour Board Bill I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered the Wairoa Harbour Board Bill, and recommends, so far as it affects public reserves, that the Bill be allowed to proceed without further amendment. 25th September, 1946.
South Canterbury Catchment Board Bill I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered the South Canterbury Catchment Board Bill, and recommends, so far as the Bill affects public reserves, that it be allowed to proceed with the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill hereto attached. 25th September, 1946.
Reserves and other Lands Disposal Bill I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has carefully considered the Reserves and other Lands Disposal Bill, and recommends that -the Bill be allowed to proceed with the amendment shown on the copy of the Bill attached hereto. Bth October, 1946.
No. 43.—Petition of A. E. S. Hanan, Mayor of Timaru, and Others Praying for the transfer of portion of Timaru Park to the South Canterbury Hospital Board. I have the honour to report that the Lands Committee has heard evidence on, and has carefully considered this petition, and has no recommendation to make. Bth October, 1946.

Praying that no portion of Timaru Park be alienated. I am directed to report that the Lands Committee recommends that these petitions b£ referred to the Government for favourable consideration. Special Report I have the honour to report that at its final meeting for the session the Lands Committee unanimously passed the following resolution : " That this Committee places on record its high appreciation of the able and judicial manner in which the Chairman, Mr. E. P. Meachen, has conducted the business of the Committee, and directs that the resolution be reported to the House." 11th October, 1946. D. C. Kidd, a Member of the Committee.
