No. 365. Petition of Mana Tume and 4 Others, of the Chatham Islands. Praying for determination of the ownership of certain lands at the Chatham Islands. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition Mould be recommended to the Government for inquiry so far as the ownership m the Kekenone Block is concerned as stated in clause 5 of the petition, but excluding the Morion title to other lands; anc! further the Committee recommends to the Government that the necessary legislation should be enacted to enable this particular inquiry to be made. The Committee recommends that this report be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 2nd October, 1935.

" That the Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the efficient and courteous manner in which the Chairman, Mr. C. H. Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Native Affairs Committee, consisting of fifteen members, has held eleven meetings during the session, the average attendance at each being six. Including twenty-seven petitions brought forward from last session, the Committee had before it fifty-five petitions. Twenty-three petitions were reported on and thirty-two are held over. Parliamentary Papers Nos. 124 and 125 were duly considered and reported on. The Native Purposes Bill and the Native Housing Bill were considered and reported on. 25th October, 1935.
