REPORTS. No. 410/24. —Petition of EL B. Gray and 103 Others. Praying that action be taken to obtain the Spahlinger treatment for New Zealand immediately. I am directed to report that the Committee, having carefully considered the evidence laid before it, including the report of Drs. Yalintine and Chisholm, who have recently interviewed Mr. Spahlinger in Switzerland, is of the opinion that, whilst the information before the Committee is insufficient to justify a recommendation that any definite action be taken at present, the Government, through the Department of Health, be recommended to keep in touch with the development of the alleged cure, with a view to taking advantage of any favourable results from this or from any other method of combating the fell disease of consumption, and that the petition be accordingly referred to the Government for consideration. 10th September, 1925.

No. 151. —Petition of Baldwin G. Sanft. Praying for some concession to enable him to register as a dentist. I am directed to report that this Committee, having carefully considered the evidence laid before it, has no recommendation to make ; but, while it does not recommend this petition for consideration, it is of the opinion that the Dentists Amendment Bill held over from last session should be proceeded with before the close of this session. 17th September, 1925. (Debate on the question, That the report do lie on the Table, interrupted by the House rising at 5.30 p.m. on 17th September, 1925.)

No. 249. —Petition of Charles Savile Lumley. Praying for an opportunity to sit for examination to register as a dentist. I am directed to report that this Committee, having regard to the fact that the petitioner was unable to apply to sit for examination owing to his absence in England, recommends that, provided he complies with section 7 of the Dentists Amendment Act, 1921-22, the petitioner be allowed to sit for such examination. 22nd September, 1925.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that this Committee records its high sense and appreciation of the capable and impartial manner in which the Chairman, Mr. W. H. Field, has presided during the present session over the deliberations of the Public Health Committee, and desires that this resolution be reported to the House. George Hunter, 25th September, 1925. Member of the Committee.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that this Committee to-day passed the following resolution : " That in the event of the Dentists Amendment Bill not passing this session the Government be strongly urged to bring down and pass a Bill enabling the dental assistants to legally continue their practice up to and during the year 1926 ; and that the Dentists Amendment Bill be proceeded with next session." 28th September, 1925.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that this Committee records its complete satisfaction with the able and efficient manner in which the Clerk, Mr. J. P. Jarrett, has carried out the duties entrusted to him, and desires that this resolution be reported to the House. 28th September, 1925.

Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Public Health Committee, consisting of ten members, has held five meetings during the session, with an average attendance of six members. Three petitions were referred to the Committee, and these were duly considered and reported upon to the House. 28th September, 1925.
