ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Thursday, the 16th Day of July, 1925. Ordered, " That a. Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters relating to public health, infectious diseases, contagious diseases, hospitals, and to local authorities having charge of these matters, and to such other matters affecting public health as may be referred to it; to have power to call for persons and papers ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Amstrong, Mr. Bell, the Hon. Mr. Buddo, Mr. Field, Mr. Hockly, Sir G. Hunter, Mr. Macpherson, Mr. Parry, Mr. Williams, and the mover." —(Hon. Sir M. Pomare.) Thursday, the 10th Day oe September, 1925. Ordered, " That the petition of B. G. Sanft be referred to the Public Health Committee."—(Mr. J. McC. Dickson.) Thursday, the 17th Day oe September, 1925. Ordered, " That the petition of C. S. REPORTS. No. 410/24. —Petition of EL B. Gray and 103 Others. Praying that action be taken to obtain the Spahlinger treatment for New Zealand immediately. I am directed to report that the Committee, having carefully considered the evidence laid before it, including the report of Drs. Yalintine and Chisholm, who have recently interviewed Mr. Spahlinger in Switzerland, is of the opinion that, whilst the information before the Committee is insufficient to justify a recommendation that any definite action be taken at present, the Government, through the Department of Health, be recommended to keep in touch with the development of the alleged cure, with a view to taking advantage of any favourable results from this or from any other method of combating the fell disease of consumption, and that the petition be accordingly referred to the Government for consideration. 10th September, 1925.

No. 151. —Petition of Baldwin G. Sanft. Praying for some concession to enable him to register as a dentist. I am directed to report that this Committee, having carefully considered the evidence laid before it, has no recommendation to make ; but, while it does not recommend this petition for consideration, it is of the opinion that the Dentists Amendment Bill held over from last session should be proceeded with before the close of this session. 17th September, 1925.
