No. 249. —Petition of Charles Savile Lumley. Praying for an opportunity to sit for examination to register as a dentist. I am directed to report that this Committee, having regard to the fact that the petitioner was unable to apply to sit for examination owing to his absence in England, recommends that, provided he complies with section 7 of the Dentists Amendment Act, 1921-22, the petitioner be allowed to sit for such examination. 22nd September, 1925.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that this Committee records its high sense and appreciation of the capable and impartial manner in which the Chairman, Mr. W. H. Field, has presided during the present session over the deliberations of the Public Health Committee, and desires that this resolution be reported to the House. George Hunter, 25th September, 1925. Special Report. I have the honour to report that this Committee to-day passed the following resolution : " That in the event of the Dentists Amendment Bill not passing this session the Government be strongly urged to bring down and pass a Bill enabling the dental assistants to legally continue their practice up to and during the year 1926 ; and that the Dentists Amendment Bill be proceeded with next session." 28th September, 1925.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that this Committee records its complete satisfaction with the able and efficient manner in which the Clerk, Mr. J. P. Jarrett, has carried out the duties entrusted to him, and desires that this resolution be reported to the House. 28th September, 1925.
Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Public Health Committee, consisting of ten members, has held five meetings during the session, with an average attendance of six members. Three petitions were referred to the Committee, and these were duly considered and reported upon to the House. 28th September, 1925.
