TARANAKI. Copy of a Letter from His Honor H. E. Eichmond to the Hon. Colonial Secretary. (No. 65.) Superintendent's Office, Sib,— New Plymouth, 18th July, 1866. I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your circular letter No. 20, of the 14th instant, and enclose herewitli a Eeturn of the local taxation in this Province. The rating of rural lands was necessarily discontinued during the years in which they could not be occupied, and was resumed towards the end of last year ; but no rural rates became due during the year 1865. I have, Ac., H. E. Eiciimond, The Hon. the Colonial Secretary, &c, Wellington. Superintendent.
