I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your circular No. 20, of the 14th of June last, requesting a Eeturn for 1865 of all local taxation in this Province; and have now the honor to transmit herewith One, showing the value to sell of property in Blenheim, and amount of rates levied for the year 1865-6. Also', one affording similar information relation to the Township of Picton. No further taxation existed, or at present exists, excepting a household rate of one pound for education, and five shillings per head per annum for each child attending the public schools, which rates yielded during the year the sum of £241 13s. 8d ■ # I may further remark that five public schools have been very recently established in this Province.
