PRESENTATION
A very enjoyable enchre party was held in Ashley’s Hall on Thursday evening, 14th inst., by the combined lodges of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows, About 60 couples were present. A noteworthy feature of the evening was the presentation to P.P.G.M. Bro. T. W. Walker, Perm. Secretary of the Shamrock, Rose, and Thistle Lodge, on the occasion of his marriage, of a valuable barometer hall clock, and for Mrs Walker of an
oak carved and silver-mounted salad bowl. Prov. Gr. M. Bro. A. Carnahan, in a few well chosen remarks, made the presentations and spoke in high terms of Brother Walker’s sterling qualities. Bro. Walker replied very feelingly, saying the kindness shown to him by the brethren would ever be a source of pleasant recollection, and would make the fulfilment of his duties doubly a pleasure. Refreshments were dispensed, and with dancing and music a very good time was spent, the gathering breaking up at two a.m. Mr Edwards and Mrs Blue played the dance music, and'Mr W. Ball acted as M.C.
