PRESENTATION OF AMBULANCE CERTIFICATES.

The presentation of ambulance certificates by His Excellency Lord Ranfurly to the successful competitors at the recent examinations, held under the auspices of the local branch of St. John Ambulance Association, took place in Guthrie’s buildings on Wednesday night, in the presence of about 500 people. Among those who succeeded in winning certificates were six members of the G Battery, who, during the evening, gave an exhibition of * first aid ’ and stretcher work, which they carried out in a most efficient manner, and the large gathering of spectators appeared, by their demonstration of approval, to appreciate their efforts. The names of the Battery men who won the certificates were, Lieut. Hall, Corpls. Boyce and Irwin, Bomb. Anderson, and Gunners Johnston and Martin, and, by the way, why were they nob called by their ranks at the ceremony? I am sure they expected to be when they appeared in uniform.
