RIVERTON.

Last Saturday proved to be one of the wettest days we have had throughout the long spell of boisterous weather experienced of late. The Aparima overflowed its banks, doing a considerable amount of damage. On Wednesday, however, the date of our annual show, the weather was delightful, and the sho,w, which was held under the auspices of the Western District A. and P. Association, was one of the best of the long series carried out here. The entries in certain classes were numerous and of first-class quality —especially the draught horses, which, I am told, equalled those shown at Dunedin. The s.s. Napier arrived on Wednesday, and discharged about 70 tons of merchandise, principally sugar, and after loading timber for northern ports steamed out the same night.
