NAVAL SEARCH FOR GOLD

GALLEOiNI SUNK 400 YEARS AGO LONDON, Marci 3. Royal Navy divers are on their way to the Isle of Mull, off the west coast of Scotland, to search for a Spanish galleon believed to have been sunk 400 years ago with 30,000,000 gold ducats aboard. The galleon, Duke Florenca, has attracted many treasure hunters, but this is the first time there has been any official search. The Admiralty is making the search by arrangements with the eleventh Duke of Argyll, in whom rights to the treasure are vested by Royal permission. The Admiralty regards the operation as good training. The Treasury officially commented: “These ducats would make a very useful contribution to the nation’s gold reserves.”
