“Trigger-happy” Villager Shoots Friend (Rec! 10.30 a.m.) PARIS, Aug. 24. Weary and dazed after a threeday non-stop battle against flames, villagers in the devastated pine forests near Bordeaux are gripped by “fire psychosis” and see a fireraiser in every unknown person. Armed peasants on guard against arson in forests were “trigger happy,” and one scared villager shot his best friend by mistake. There were also attempted lynchings. The headquarters of the fire-fighting forces - in South-west France announced to-day that all fires in the Gironde Department were under control.—Reuter.
