WEST BERLIN STATUS CHANGE (Rec. 11 a.m.) BERLIN, Aug. 19. Reports that West Berlin is to become a state in the West German Republic Avere premature, Mr John MeCloy, United States High Commissioner for Germany, said to-day, says the Associated Press.
“I know of no steps in that direction,” he said. He did not oppose such a plan, hut it lnid not been discussed recently.
