NEW CONSTITUTION

HUNGARIAN PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC

(Rec. 10.0 a.m.) BUDAPEST, Aug. 18. The Hungarian Parliament to-day unanimously passed the new constitution, which proclaims Hungary a “People’s Republic of Workers and Working Peasants.” . The constitution broadly resembles that adopted by the Soviet Union in 1936. It provides for a 21-member Presidium to rule the country between sessions of parliament.
