DEATH DUEL

BANDIT v. OFFICIALS ROME, April 16. Salvatore Giuliano, the elusive Sicilian bandit king, challenged 10 members of the Italian Government or their delegates to a death duel.

Giuliano, in a letter to a Sicilian newspaper, said: “If I won, I take over the government of Italy. If I lose, it will be the end for me.” Giuliano said he would fight the Government’s men one at a time. He did not indicate the choice of weapons. The bandit’s, letter ended, with the usual insults against the police and the Government for their methods of trying to capture him.
