Ashburton Matinee Trots MEETING TO-MORROW WEEK Excellent fields have been nominated for the Ashburton Trotting Club’s matinee meeting to be heßl to-morrow week and some keen racing should result.
In conjunction with the meeting, a gymkhana will also be held, with attractions for young and old. The proceeds will go jointly to the Returned Services’ Association building fund and the fund for the Tinwald War Memorial Hall. Many of the attractions outside the actual racing are being arranged by the bodies in charge of those funds.
Nominations closed last evening. A total of 29 was received for the Trotters’ Race (class 3.41) and this will probably have to be run in divisions. There are 30 ente'red for the Pacers’ Race (class 3.37) and this will probably be decided in two heats with a final. Ten each have been nominated for the other two events, the entrants including a number of recent winners. The entries are:
