UNO HEADQUARTERS BUfLDING

(Rec. 11.0) NEW YORK, Dec. 19. The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr Trygve Lie, announced acceptance of a bid by a, syndicate of four of New York’s largest building contractors for the construction of the 39-storey secretariat building for permanent United Nations headquarters in mid-Manhattan. The bid was not disclosed, but it is believed t-o be between 22,000,000 and 24,000,000 dollars. The whole of the international headquarters is expected to cost 65,000,000 dollars. The building is expected to he completed by the latter part of 1950.
