GANDHI’S APPEAL
ATTACKS ON INDIANS IN SOUTH AFRICA (Rec. 11.0) NEW DELHI, July 17. Mr Gandhi, in his usual pronouncement after his prayer meeting to-day, appealed to Viscount Mountbatten, Mr Nehru, Mr Jinnah and General Smuts to stop alleged attacks against Indians in South Africa. He said: “If General Smuts, who professes to be my friend, is unable to control South African Europeans he ■should resign.”
