COMMONS OPENS DEBATE (Rec. 11.60 a.m.) LONDON, July 17. Opening the House of Common debate on coal production, Mr Ernest Shinwell said that while the improvement in output was not adequate foi needs, the fact had been established that at least as much coal was produced in 1947, in the five-day week as m the six-day week during the corresnonding period of 1946.
