CONSPIRACY CHARGE

ACCUSED IDENTIFIED IN SINGAPORE (Rec. 11.0) SINGAPORE, July 17. Walter Cecil Byrne, of the Sydney Criminal Investigation Bureau in the Singapore district court, to-day identified George Stamford as Stanley Hammond, who last month failed to appear in the Sydney court to answei a charge of conspiracy. The judge withdrew bail and remanded the accused in custody until July 22. The accused, who to day answered to the name of Stamford, allegedly arrived at Singapore from Australia last month as a stowaway aboard an Avro Anson. He was -charged under the alias of Stanley Hammond with conspiring, with two other men, between January, 1944 and June, 1945, in New South Wales to cheat certain persons of money and valuable securities by offering them shares in a company.
