COUNTY WAR RELIEF FUND.

Sir,I—ln 1 —In reply to Mr J. H. Ward’s letter of May 28: —-I.wish to refer to the resolution passed at the Returned Services’ Association’s annual meeting. Although my committee has received no communication on this subject, we are prepared to meet the R.S.A. appointees at any time and place and will give them the informa-* tion asked for. Mr Ward, as mover of the motion, now appears to wish to forestall the proposed inquiry by asking for information through newspaper correspondence. The only questions which Mr Ward asks which are the most important in view of their effect on the collection of patriotic fundsi are No. 5 and No. 8, which are almost similar. The answer to No. 5 is definitely “no.” All money advanced on mortgage to civilians has been repaid, together with interest in full. Answering No. 8, the only losses made were on advances to returned soldiers, the amount which will be disclosed to the inquiry in my opinion were not great in view of the amount of funds handled. ERIC H. ORR, Chairman, County War Relief Fund. Sir, —I feel that I should reply to the statement made by “Pro Bono Publico,” when he suggests that some members of the R.S.A. committee are anxious to get the balance of the War Relief Fund for the R.S.A. building fund. Neither the R.S.A. executive nor the building committee has at any time made any such suggestion. This money was collected for a specific purpose, and we would be the lasi to suggest that it should be used for anything but that for which it was collected. The people of thi.s County are whole-heartedly supporting our building fund. We will not have to resort to any “back-door” methods to achieve our objective. If the War Relief Fund is a County fund, then “Pro Bono Publico” and others have the right to express an opinion concerning the use of the fund. But “Pro Bono Publico” is wrong when he suggests that the R.S.A. are trying to gain control of thig money. W. G. WELSH, President R.S.A.,
