FERTILISER SUPPLIES.
THE LODGING OF APPLICATIONS All applications for fertiliser for the 1944-45 season must be lodged by April 30, states a circular received by the secretary of the Mid-Canterbury Council of Primary Production (Mr W. H. Amos) from the Contriver of Primary Industries (Mr E. J.'Fawcett). Increases in allocation will not become effective till next season, states the circular. By May fertiliser committees must forward to the Department of Agriculture a statement giving on a superphosphate basis the number of applications received and the proposed tonnage of allocation. Applications may be lodged by farmers who have no allocation at present and require fertiliser for topdressing or by farmers who can show that if their allocation is based on the two years ended May 31, 1941. they are unduly penalised.
The rehearing of applications previously considered will be allowed. As from April 1 chairmen of fertiliser committees would cease to act and their planes would be taken by-mem-bers of councils of primary production. Under an amendment to the Fertiliser Control Order, merchants must Imve orders for fertiliser for sowing by .June 30 in hand by April 15, otherwise the manufacturers will not lake them.
