ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 8. At the Addington market to-day, owing to snow conditions in the country districts and to tho poor quality ol the yarding, the demand for store sheep was very slack, most of the larger lines being passed in. Best price was 28s Gd for a line of 60 extra good four-year-old half bred ewes. A pen of 70 two-tooth opon-wOolled owes from the same vendor was passed in at 34 s. Medium owes ranged from 15s Id to ‘2os, and inferior from 2s 6d to 9s 3d. The fat sheep entry was about 5200. Quality was good throughout and some outstanding sheep, both wethers and ewes, were penned. The best price fo'wotliors was 56s Id, and there wore other sales of small lots from 49s Id to 555. The highest price for ewes was 44s 7d, and others made from 33s 7d to 40s 4d. Some good class fat lambs met with the usual sound competition, and prices for those did not show any material change. The highest price was 42s Id, a draft of 04 making from 37s Id to that figure. Tho fat cattle entry totalled 500, compared with 547 last week. The quality vas much better than for some time, there being a particularly good showing of prime heavy and medium weight steers and a number of pens of outstanding neilers. Several lines ot Southland and Otago cattle of varying quality were forward. The class of the yarding was good, though many came from stations affected by the recent fall of snow. The market showed an improvement of up to 20s a head for best quality, and up to 10s for average classes. Best beet ranged from 46s Gd to 49s per 1001 b, good prime 43s to <lss, ordinary 40s to 42s and heifer beef up to 445. Little interest was taken in the few pens offered in tho store cattle sale.
