WHALING ACCIDENT.

HARPOON GUNNER KILLED. (P.A.) BLENHEIM, This Day. Mr John Donald Huntley, aged 31, married of Picton, a harpoon gunner of the Tory Channel whaling fleet, died in hospital on Saturday night as a result of head injuries suffered in Cook Strait on Friday afternoon.

Mr Huntley was firing at the fourth whale of a successful day when tho shellcase flew hack, striking him on the forehead and fracturing the skull, lie was rushed to Picton iu a fast whale chaser.
