FIFTY YEARS SYNE. (From the “Guardian,” June 28, 1893) Record for chaff-cutting.—On Tuesday, on the farm of Mr OP. Murphy, Chertsey, Mr P. Chalmers succeeded in putting up a record in the matter of chaff cutting. Six and three-quarter tons in one hour fifty minutes. Last year Mr Chalmers, while cutting for Air Doig put through twenty-nine and three-quarter tons in nine hours forty minutes. This was the record till Tuesday. His machine is from the firm of Andrews and Heaven, Christchurch. TWENTY-FIYE YEARS AGO., (From the “Guardian,” June 28, 1918) Successful concert at Wakanui.—A very successful concert- organised by the Church of England congregation was held in the Wakanui Schoolroom last evening. The room was filled with an appreciative audience.
