BOWLING.

THE ASHBURTON CLUB. Saturday afternnoon was ideal for bowls and there was a large attendance of members of the Ashburton Bowling Club when another round of the champion fours and a game in the champion pairs were played and some interesting games resulted. Results during the week were:—

Champion Fours (skips names only)— W. Finn 2o beat A. Cooper, and E. A. Cockroft 17 beat W. IT. Higgins 15.

Champion Singles—A. Sinclair beat R. McElhinney, and H. R. D. Porter beat A. Cooper.

Champion Pairs—F. Bonifacio ana P. Cookson (s) beat .T. Renner and W. H. Higgins (s}, H. P. Milsom and T. J. Cameron (s) beat B. Sawle and T. E. Tarbotton (s), A. P. TVarriner and S. Mitchell (s) 19, beat H. P. Milsom and T. J. Cameron (s) 18. This was a very close game. Cameron required three to tie on. the las’t head. When the skips changed over Warriner was lying shot. Cameron drove it out and Mitchell then drew a shot, which Cameron also cut out. Finally Cameron scored two and narrowly missed the tie on a close measure.

Members are urged to take every opportunity to play their remaining games as the sub-centre championships will he played at Allenton on Saturday, February 27, and the club champion must be found before then.
