TYRES AND TUBES.

MORE APPLICATIONS APPROVED. The Ashburton Tyre and Tube Rationing Committee has approved applications for 24 tyres and 11 tubes from the October quota. All applications come within classes A and B on the priority list. The committee lias received numerous inquiries whether individual applications have, been approved or declined. The chairman of the committee (Mr S. G. Macfarlane) said this morning that none of the applications so far received had been of such a non-essential class as to he declined, and in cases where they have not been immediately approved they have been deferred until tyres were available. Mr Macfarlane also pointed out that irritating delay would be avoided if applicants would ensure that their applications were completely filled in.
