GERMAN MINESWEEPER ON FIRE. ACTION BY TWO SPITFIRES. (Ree. 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 6. A German armed-minesweeper of about 500 tons was attacked and set on fire off the coast of France near Berch to-day by two Spitfires. The pilots made two attacks with cannon and machine-guns from opposite directions from between 500 and 1000 feet. As the Spitfires made for home they saw that the minesweeper had rnn aground. Shore batteries opened up but neither aircraft was hit. —British Official Wireless.
