CHANNEL AND OCCUPIED AREA. 12 ENEMY PLANES DESTROYED. SHIPS IN CONVOY ATTACKED (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Rec. 12.10 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 21. An Air Ministry communique states: “Royal Air Force fighters have been active over the Channel and enemyoeoupiod territory during the day. A low-flying patrol early this morning attacked a number of targets, including an oil storage tank near Ostend, goods trains and oil tank waggons near the Abbeville area, and hangars and Germans troops on the aerodrome at Le Touquet. Later in the morning squadrons of our fighters carried out a sweep over Pas do Calais and destroyed 12 op-'iny lighters. “Blenheim bombers attacked an enemy convoy escorted by ‘flak’ (antiaircraft) ships off the coast of Holland this afternoon. The results were difficult to observe, but smoko was seen coming from two of the ships attacked. “From these operations three bombers and nine fighters are missing, but the pilots of four of our fighters are safe.”—British Official Wireless.
