TRIAL OPENED.

FORMER FRENCH LEADERS. LONDON, October 20. It is announced from Vichy that the trial of the men who are said to have been responsible for the entry of France into the war and her consequent collapse, lias opened at Riom. The men include the former Prime Ministers, M. Daladier and M. Leon Blum, two former Ministers, M. Piere Cot and M. Guy la Chambre, and the former Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces, General Gamelin. The Council of National Safety has been given 10 days to prepare its evidence.

Marshal Petaln recently ordered M. Daladier, M. Blum and General Gamelin to be detained in a fortress in the Pvronoes until the trial.
