NATIONAL SAVINGS.

THE CAMPAIGN IN ASHBURTON. £999 DEPOSITED LAST WEEK. Reaching its quota of £BB2 a week in the new National Savings campaign, this figure being recorded on Thursday morning, the Ashburton district went on for the remainder of the week to make a total of deposits of £999 12s 6d. A small portion of the excess amount is carried over to the present week, and the new money ball was hoisted at the Post Office this morning, showing a small start toward the £BB2 mark for the second period of the campaign. The money ball is that which was donated by the Ashburton Savage Club. Made in two parts, it fits about the flagstaff on the Post Office tower and can he raised easily on the halyard which normally is used to hoist the flag.
