FEW CASUALTIES IN SOUTH-EAST ENEMY PLANE SHOT DOWN. (Rec. 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 3. An official communique says: “Eariy this afternoon enemy aircraft dropped bombs on places on the south-east coast. These did some damage and caused a small number of casualties. An enemy bomber was shot down in the Channel by one of our fighters this afternoon. —British Official Wireless.

In a communique issued last evening the Air Ministry of Home , Security said: “No enemy aircraft were flown over this country to-day. There has been some enemy activity off the east coast in the course of which two enemy bombers were shot down into the sea by Royal Air Force fighters.”
