This is to be done regardless of the party to which the absent soldier member belongs. The arrangement has been made to deal with a situation that may arise in the event of a person claiming to be an independent candidate or the candidate of some party 7 other than the Labour Party or National Party contesting seats held by members serving with the armed forces.
