PROTECTIVE SENSE.

ANIMALS IN AIR RAIDS.

CARE OF DOAIESTIC PETS

LONDON, October 18

Casualties among domestic pots during air raids have been much lower than was expected. This is believed to have, been due to a sixth protective sense, enabling them to anticipate danger before human beings.

Au instance is given of a cat which can tell the difference between the warning and all-clear sirens. There are hundreds of London dogs and cats which have been loft homeless and forsaken by departing owners, and which have been picked up by the police and scouts of the Dumb Friends’ League, which urges householders to leave a window or door open to permit their pots to escape. Some cats have been so shocked by the bomb bursts that they are said .to have travelled as much its 200 miles from their homes, but pets in most cases have declined to leave their familiar precincts. Therefore householders have been requested to revisit ruined homes within the following 24 or 36 hours with a view to rescuing their pets.
