ANNUAL CONFERENCE.

PROVINCIAL FIRE BRIGADES. The annual meeting of the Canterbury Provincial Fire Brigades’ Association was held at Temuka. Fireman C. J. Bax (Christchurch) presided. A remit from the Ashburton Brigade to hold at least two executive meetings in the year was lost by a substantial majority.

Fireman Bax, immediate past-presi-dent, was presented with a silver badge and made a life member of the association.

It was agreed to hold the next annual meeting at Waimate. The’ matter of the annual demonstration was left to the executive.

Officers elected included:—President, Lieutenant C. Solway (Ashburton); senior vice-president, Superintendent F. J, Chapman (Temuka); vice-presi-dent, Fireman S. Preddy (Ashburton); secretary, J. H. O’Neill (Sumner). The balance-sheet showed a credit of £l7 Os 6d.
