DUGOUTS IN WOODS.
POPULATION OF HELSINKI. BLINDING SNOWSTORM. United Press Association —Copyright.; LONDON, December 4. Tile Finnish capital entered the third clay of the war with only a third ot the population remaining. The majority of those are spending the days and nights in dugouts or in the snow-cover-ed woods and forests round the city. Many are sleeping in the open. The roadsides are littered with abandoned cars, which have been wrecked in accidents during black-outs. A blinding snowstorm, together with the presence of the German refugee ship Doimu until the evening, was apparently responsible for the day long absence of bombers from Helsinki yesterday. The churches nevertheless, as a precautionary measure, abandoned their services, and school children were given a vacation. Allocated evacuees continue to depart from all towns.
