WIDESPREAD CONDEMNATION. FASCIST DEMONSTRATOR®. LONDON, December 4. • The Swedish Cabinet to-night decided to call up further conscripts and reservists in addition to the large contingents involved in yesterday’s calling up. It also cancelled discharges due conscripts already serving. An indignant mob smashed the windows of the Communist newspaper “Nydag” and attempted to storm the Russian Legation, but was headed off by the police. The churches observed two minutes’ silence for prayers for Finland.

.The Stockholm newspaper “Svenske Dagbladet” says: “The urgent question is whether Sweden should immediately and effectively aid Finland. The alternative might b© that Sweden, may have to face Russian demands alone if Finland is conquered.” “This is world revolution on the march,” declared the Danish newspaper “Itisenstegn.” The newspaper adds: “Germany should now , see what forces she has unleashed over Europe. The Allies should ‘ understand that peace is preferable*to a beaten- and Sovietised Germany. The situation demands a strong Germany and a strong British Empire. ’ If the belligerents do not acknowledge this, they will increase the chances of victory for Soviet imperialism.”

The German radio for the first time revealed to Germany the outbreak of war on Finland, for which England is blamed.

The Official Spanish News Agencyannounced:—“The Germans well know they are paying the highest price for Russian friendship. Moscow will continue to do the utmost to benefit from Germany’s forced benevolence. Herr Hitler will again curse the war, which has prevented, him from fulfilling the promises which made him popular among those who wished to see the world freed of the Bolshevist menace.”

The. Vatican newspaper, “Osservatore Romano,” considers that tlie invasion of Finland is part of a Imge plan for Bolshevising Northern'Europe and the Balkans.

The Rome correspondent of tlie Associated Press of Great Britain reports that 3000 uniformed Fascists demonstrated against the Russians in favour of Finland before the Russian and Finnish Embassies. While . Finns in the United States celebrated the twenty-second anniversary of the Finnish independence, M. Kerensky, head of the first Russian Revolutionary Government, appealed to the Americans not to confuse the Russians’ invasion with- tlie. wishes of the Russian people. He declared that the Russian .patriots and democrats protested at the shameful and dishonourable action simultaneously. The Montevideo correspondent of the Associated Press of America foreshadows an extension of the anti-Rus-sian reaction, reporting that the Uruguayan Foreign Minister (Senor Guam) is communicating with other PanAmericans with a view to a joint protest.
