VICTORY FOR ALLIES.

AMERICAN’S PREDICTION. """ """"" “ NEW YORK, November 15. Expressing confidence in an Allied victory, Mr Thomas Lamont, a partner of the J. P. Morgan Company, told the Academy of Political Science that the United States should keep out, encourage the sales of war supplies to Britain and France, and strengthen its own economic and financial resources so as to help make a permanent peace. He added that American economic participation was needed to establish an economic union of Western Europe with a free trade area equal to the United States. ® He called on American business and labour to settle their differences and agree on reduced tariffs so as to make possible an economic United States of Europe, which would' have an immense stabilising effect upon the world.
