WORK APPRECIATED.

RED CROSS LECTURE SERIES. THE FLEMINGTON SUB-BRANCH. Appreciation of the work that has been carried out in the Flemington district by the sub-branch of the Red Cross Society was expressed yesterday when Sister E. Williams completed her series of lectures in that district. . By the unanimous decision of the members it was agreed that the branch should go into recess for the Christmas and holiday period and that lectures in first aid! should be resumed in March.

It was stated that the membership was 44 and the lectures had been very well attended. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr L. A. Heyward for having arranged the school for the holding of the classes.

The president (Mrs C. W. Anderson) thanked members for their attendance, the committee for its co-opefration throughout, and Mrs C. Kennedy for her reports as delegate to the Ashburton Centre.

On behalf of members, Mrs F. Blee expressed sincere* appreciation of the work of Sister Williams and her assistants, and these sentiments were endorsed by Mrs K. Taylor. The secretary (Miss J. Bratley), on belialf of the examination candidates, also thanked Sister Williams and* Miss Co ok son and the representatives of the St. John Ambulance Association (Mrs F. J. E. Smallbone and Miss N. Watson) who had demonstrated bandaging. A picture was presented to Sister Wiliams by Mrs Anderson and a crystal vase was presented to each of the other demonstrators. LECTURE AT HAMPSTEAD. The weekly meeting of the Hampstead Red Cross Society was held in the Memorial Hall. There was an attendance of 41. After demonstrations in bandaging, Dr. W. R. Ryburn gave his third lecture on first-aid. After the lecture further bandaging instruction was carried out.
