ASHBURTON STOCK MARKET. SHARP RISE IN PRICES. A GOOD QUALITY ENTRY. « • Prices for fat sheep at the Ashburton stock market to-day were from 8s to 4s a head higher than those realised at Timvald last week, the sharp rise being caused by the short supply. There was a limited entry, and some good lines were offered. • First spring lambs made an appearance on the market and sold well, prices ranging from 21. s Cd to 255, the vendor of these lines being L. C. Anderson (Lyndhurst). Shorn ewes were put up for sale for the first time this season, and prices varied from 12s 7d to 17s 10d, the latter being; gained by D. Johnson (Mayfield) for a pen of five. The same client also sold a lino of throe at 10s lOd.
Prime fat ewes made up to 24s lOd for four, sold on account of J. Gregory (Sea-field). Other prices ranged from 14s Id to 23s lOd. Fat wethers realised 27s lOd to 30s Id, A. Bennett (Riverside) topping the market with an entry of five. Sales up to mid-day were: —

CLEARING SALE AT COLDSTREAM Bidding was keen at the clearing sale held on account of Air L. V. Bound}’ on his property at Coldstream yesterday. There was an excellent attendance of farmers and others interested and many satisfactory prices were obtained, the sheep especially selling well. The sale was conducted by Messrs Plyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd. Principal sales were:— Sheep—Ewes and lambs: 96 at 15s 9d, 118 at 14s Gd, GO at 14s, 170 at 13s Gd, 145 at 14s, 131 at 15s 9d; 03 ewes at 2-ls, 16s at 20s; 2 B.L. cross S.l>. rams at 2£ guineas.
