THE WEATHER.
MILD CONDITIONS TO-DAY. Although the sky was overcast for the greater part of the day, the weather in Ashburton was comparatively mild, for a. slight wind blew from the north-west. Fine conditions were enjoyed yesterday when the maximum temperature was 59 degrees. The minimum last night was 37.3 degrees. A frost of 2.3 degrees was recorded this morning. The barometer stood at 29.88 inches. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— The anti-cyclone mentioned yesterday has moved, northwards, its centre being over the Auckland Peninsula. The first of a series of westerly depressions is beginning to cross the souther'll part of the South Island. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Light to fresh northerly winds tunning temporarily in places to westerly. Weather fine at first but cloud increasing and later some scattered light rains developing in the high country. Temperatures mild. Seas slight to moderate.
