MATCHES ON SATURDAY. Baring Square maintained its undefeated record in the competitions of the Mid-Canterbury Lawn Tennis 'SubAssociation which we.ro continued on Saturday. They had a good win over Allenton. The matches were continued in excellent weather.

The United States Lawn Tennis Association has announced that 19 nations have filed entries for the Davis Cup competition, three for the Americon zone, and 16 for the European zone. HENKEL DEFEATED. In the preliminary rounds of the Australian tennis championships on Saturday, an almost unknown Victorian youth, George Holland, defeated Henner Henkel (Germany), 1-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, 6-4.
