KIA ORA LEADS IN SENIOR. THE ASHBURTON COMPETITIONS. 'High scoring was not a feature of Ashburton County senior cricket matches on Saturday. The best total was that of H. Jordan (Kia Ora) who, in a hurricane innings, in which he numbered ten boundaries, made 50 not out, to give Kia Ora a four point win, and resume the lead in the senior competition. 1. M. Hamilton (Ashburton) made 41.

There were some good bowling figures. Some of the best performances were those of C. T. Dacre (Public Works), eight for 44, M. Betts (Kia Ora) four for 18, G. Willis (Fairfield) five for 24, S. Duncan (Old Boys) seven for 29, and P. M. Harper (Ashburton) seven for 45. ,

A feature of the junior games was two hat tricks in the Public Works Irrigation-Tinwald match. These were performed by Mowat and R Hulme. The second round of the senior competition will be concluded next Satur day, when Kia Ora and Fairfield, leading teams, will meet. The games on Saturday were played in good weather.

SENIOR GRADE.

KIA ORA v. TECHNICAL. A win by ten wickets, counting four points, were obtained by Kia Ora in its match against Technical, on the Kia Ora grounds, on Saturday. Technical’s first innings produced 101, of which W. Holland made 20. In the second innings they made 65, there being only three double figure scorers, Holland with 23 again having the best score. Kia Ora made 119 in the first innings, L. Aloore making 37 not out, E. Jordan 21 and F. Holloway 20. In the second H. Jordan knocked up 50 of the total of 51 runs for the loss of no wickets, being partnered by S. W. Kerr, who was content to keep his wicket intact. Only one of Jordan’s scoring strokes failed to produce a boundary. He scored four sixes and six fours in a lusty knock. Bowling for Kia Ora AI. A win by ten runs on the first innings was obtained by Ashburton in a match against Public Works Irrigation on the Oval. The game was not marked by any particularly high scores, the best knock being that of I. AI. Hamilton (Ashburton), who made 41, including a six and three fours. L. Whinham and H. W. Drennan made 20 each for Public Works, the total for this side being 110. Ashburton replied with 120. The outstanding bowler for Ashburton was P. AI.
