WELLINGTON RACING CLUB. BEX BRAGG IE SUCCESSFUL. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 22. The Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting was concluded at Trenthr.m to-day in fine weather. There was a large holiday crowd present. The track was in linn order, hut times were not as fast ns on Thursday, because of a steady wind blowing across the course. Speculation was very spirited, the sum of £83,004 (win £35,115, place £47,889) being handled as against £69,223 10s on the corresponding day last year. The total for the meeting was £174,272, compared with £188,826 at last year’s meeting, a decrease of £14,554, This big drop was due to the second and third days last year being held on Anniversary Day (Thursday) and a Saturday. This year the club enjoyed only one holiday, to-day. Concluding results:— Kaitoke Hack Handicap, of £300; six furlongs—4 (4) Aureus (W. Broughton) 1, 1 (1) Lord Nuffield 8.12 (L, J. It is not often that a favourite for the Melbourne Cup defeats a first-class six furlongs field at his next start. In doing this in the William Reid Stakes at the Moonee Valley Racing Club’s meeting, Hua proved his class once again. Jupiter made his third successive win over the jumps when he won the Tweedside Hurdle Race. The chief results are:—

William Reid Stakes, of £1000; six furlongs—Hua 8.7 (Wilson) 1, Beechwood 8.7 2, Regular Bachelor 8.11 3. Won by a length and three-quarters; a head between second and third. Time, 1.11$ —a course record. Caldermeade Handicap, of £400; one mile and a quarter—Bellevue 7.4 (Morris) 1, The Riff 8.1 2, The Wizard 7.7 3. Won by a neck; half a head between second and third. Time, 2.55. Prince Quex was second in the Warrock High-weight Handicap, which was won by Lady Mauve. Silver Bond was unplaced in the Cranmallan Trial Handicap. The Veilmond colt, Veiled Prophet, won the second division of the Niddrie Handicap in the course record time of 1.05 for five furlongs.
