THE WEATHER.
SUNNY CONDITIONS TO-DAY. Bright, sunny weather was experienced in. Ashburton to-day. The sky was practically cloudless in the morning and conditions were warm. There was a light northerly wind,. The maximum temperature yesterday was 72 degrees and the inside minimum last night 58.2 degrees.
The barometer at 9 o’clock this morning stood at 29.77 inches, compared with 29.88 inches yesterday morning.

The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference: The anti-cyclone recently reported is now centred over the North Island and moving slowly eastward, while a depression is advancing across the Tasman Sea.
The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from. Blenheim to Uamaru ii as follows:
Light to moderate and variable winds with northerlies predominating, and later freshening. Weather fine and warm to hot. Seas, slight to moderate.
