RAILWAY BOARD’S INSPECTION. ASSERTION BY A MINISTER. (Per Press Association). BLENHEIM, This Day. The Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) arrived on a visit, the chief object of which is to inspect the route of the South Main Trunk. Speaking at Picton, Mr Semple declared his intention to examine the route thoroughly and all other Tilings that mattered. Referring to the Railways Board’s inspection, the Minister averred: “I believe there was a dead whale on one of the beaches, and the Board spent more time looking at it than at the railway.” The Minister will remain at Blenheim till Tuesday l , when lie will leave for Kaikoura and Chirstchurch.
